This tour has become a favorite for many of our guest. We can begin your journey at Hilo airport, Port of Hilo, or a local resort. Your day will start in Hilo at the beautiful Japanese Gardens named after Queen Lili'uokalani. Here you can enjoy an awesome view of Mauna Kea, one of the worlds tallest mountains, and a gorgeous view of the Hamakua Coast. During the winter months it is not uncommon to see humpwhales in our bay.
We then proceed to downtown Hilo, where you will experience the charm of this historic town. Our next stop is the fabulous Rainbow Falls whose 89 foot high cascade hides a sacred cave. Just above Rainbow Falls you can explore under the huge canopy of a beautiful banyan tree that always leaves her guests in awe, and a lagoon on the river to the falls that has become a very popular attraction.
You will amazed at our next stop, `Imiloa Astronomy Center of Hawai`i tells dual stories of the renowned Maunakea volcano, with its world-famous astronomy and rich traditions of Hawaiian culture. `Imiloa, which means "exploring new knowledge," reflects both the Hawaiian voyages of discovery and the explorations of astronomy.
Located on a nine-acre campus above the University of Hawaii-Hilo, with spectacular views of Hilo Bay, 'Imiloa Astronomy Center (formerly called Maunakea Astronomy Education Center) provides a unique experience for visitors, students, and families seeking to explore the connections between Hawaiian cultural traditions and the science of astronomy.
Voyaging canoes and astronomers' telescopes: Tools of the explorers framed by a rich Polynesian tradition of exploration,`Imiloa is Hawai'i’s premier facility for interpreting the deepest mysteries of the universe, being unraveled by the Maunakea observatories—the world’s largest and most important collection of telescopes. `Imiloa inspires and educates, helping us to connect with our origins while we reach for the stars.
Ahu kupanaha iā Hawai`i `imi loa! The Hawaiian value of pursuing new knowledge brings bountiful rewards.Lowest all inclusive prices.
After our visit to the statue of King Kamehameha we then stroll through the gorgeous Panaewa Rainforest Zoo, this is a treat in itself. No trip to Hawaii would be complete without a visit to Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Factory, it is here that you can sample our Island's delicacies. We then proceed to Richardson Black Sand Beach, make sure to bring your camera as the scenery here is delightful. Our last stop is to visit the sea turtles. It is amazing to watch these gentle sea creatures feed only a few feet from shore. (Although we can not make any guarantees, they are in abundance during the winter months. Picture above is of Kehena Beach.
